Career Resources is a private, non profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our mission:
“…to empower people with disabilities and other barriers, to be as self-sufficient, self-determining, and successful as possible. Individuals are supported in their own jobs and homes and integrated into community life; recognizing that they are unique, valued people and that communities are enriched by their participation.”
Despite A Difficult Economy
This past year Career Resources purchased and renovated a home in Bradford to provide a fully handicap accessible home to five men who were living in an older rental home. With the tireless work from staff and input from the residents, the home finally became a reality this summer.
The five men enjoyed their beautiful yard this summer, having numerous cookouts which was something they were unable to do at their previous house. They now have two full bathrooms, one that is fully accessible, and a beautiful kitchen with state of the art appliances. The bedrooms are all very personalized and are large and roomy.
A Joyful Home - A Constant Smile
Each person participated in the interior design on the home. Fred has a love of trains and so with that in mind, his bedroom was designed with his enthusiasm towards trains with borders of locomotives, comforter with trains and lots of pictures of his various trips through New England as a passenger.
Frank is non verbal, in a wheelchair and is totally reliant on his staff for all his daily needs, has a beautiful bedroom with a lot of windows. He now has plenty of space in the new house to participate in all the daily activities including watching their new large screen television. His delight is apparent by the constant smile on his face.
